Angela Bruwer

Angela is passionate about building brands ‘from the inside out’. At Interbrand Sampson Inside she was responsible for managing and directing the specialist ‘Inside’ field of brand engagement on the African continent and within the network. Her ethos is that good brands only become great brands when employees believe in them and are encouraged to engage in brand building. Angela believes that brand engagement is predominantly about ‘listening’ and that brand engagement methodologies should constantly be reviewed, rethought, and aligned to best practices globally. 

Angela completed her BA Communications (Honours) and her master’s degree in communications at the University of Johannesburg. Her career started with Leo Burnett where she was a blue-chip Accounts Director. 

From here she moved to Hunt Lascaris, followed by Absa Bank where she was appointed General Manager: Brand Marketing, with the responsibility of amalgamating four banks into one new brand. Within 5 years Absa became the most loved financial services brand in South Africa. She was subsequently appointed General Manager for Group Communication and Public Affairs at Absa. During this time, Absa won the ‘Best Company to Work for’ over two consecutive years. Angela launched ABC, her brand-marketing consultancy, prior to starting Interbrand Sampson Inside. ABC clients included Standard Bank Group, Exxaro, City of Joburg, Transaction Capital, ATM Solutions Group, University of Johannesburg, SDT, Silverbridge Holdings, Northwest University, Ashwin Willemse, City of Tshwane.

As an academic with over 20 years of teaching experience at various public and private institutions, I have developed a keen interest in the communication, branding and education fields. My research interests lie in these fields, with a particular focus on the brand and corporate communication. I hold a PhD from UNISA, and my research for my PhD focused on the political brand and social media storytelling. Nande Hadebe

Born in the Eastern Cape and residing in Johannesburg, Nande is a student of life who works as a marketer and whose career foundation is rooted in brand management.

She has led the launch of Fibre-To-The-Home at Vodacom from its infancy, patiently and passionately driving BTL fibre communications. She eventually launched the first integrated campaign which saw the portfolio win a Top Brands Sunday Times Award in the Fibre ISP category.

With experience in developing communication strategies and driving creative executions, she has also played a key role in the Youth segment as marketing support for the early careers programme. With a goal to positively shape how consumers engage with brands, Nande has been in the forefront in developing brand fundamentals as portfolio playbooks, naming conversions and messaging architecture. She finds absolute joy in seeing the behind the scenes work come to life in customer facing touchpoints.

Nande currently works as a Commercial Marketing/ Segment Manager at MTN and is primarily responsible for the development of customer fit propositions that are built on customer insights. Nande holds a Diploma in Business Administrations, Bcom in Marketing & Management Sciences, Bphil (Hons) in Marketing Management and an Enterprise & Technology Management certificate. She is passionate about inclusion, technology
and the promotion of unconventional ideas and believes these are key to the betterment of society.
